“It’s clear, the future will be electric.” Dr. Ralf Speth, CEO Jaguar Land Rover
Next year, as part of Jaguar’s Race to Innovate, Jaguar I-PACE cars will have the chance to compete in ten Formula E race events taking place around the world at the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY. The world’s first FIA-sanctioned international race series for production-based electric cars will feature up to 20 modified Jaguar I-PACE cars all competing on the same circuit as the electric street race cars. Participants will be provided professional technical support, spare parts, and equipment.
Jaguar is currently accepting inquiries from companies and individuals wishing to participate in one of the inaugural eTROPHY events. Visit the eTROPHY site for more information on how to participate and to see if an eTROPHY event is scheduled near you.
The Car that Became a Surfboard
Every new car begins as a model of sculpted plastic and clay. When that car goes into production that model is pulled apart and discarded as waste. Until now. In partnership with SkunkWorks Surf Co, Land Rover’s model car waste materials are now living out second lives as surfboards.
Committed to living in a world of zero waste, Jaguar Land Rover sought out ways to repurpose their waste plastic. Upon recognizing that surfboards were made from the same material used in the early clay design models, they began the process of recovering waste plastic and sending it off for transformation — to live again as a surf- or paddle board.
The first surfboard, made from a Discovery Sport, was hand-built for English Women’s Open Surfing Champion surfer, Lucy Campbell. Watch as Lucy tests her new surfboard off the coast of Northern Ireland.
The Most Beautiful Car Ever Made, Electrified
Last month Jaguar Land Rover debuted an electric-powered Jaguar E-type at the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest. Known as the E-type Zero, Jaguar’s latest electric concept car combines the E-type’s classic beauty with a 21st century zero-emission powertrain. [Read More]
By using an electric powertrain similar in size and weight to the iconic E-type’s gas powered engine and transmission, the E-type Zero looks strikingly similar to the original and hints at a future where these iconic beauties live on, this time as the most beautiful electric car ever made.
