Keep Your Cool
What’s worse than a broken A/C unit on a hot summer’s day? Knowing you could’ve done something about it. Here are three symptoms of a failing A/C unit:
- Weak, Tepid Air. If the air flow remains consistent no matter how high the A/C is turned on and the air coming out is cool at best, then your A/C unit is certainly experiencing a problem. This may be due to debris blocking a vent or a more serious problem with the compressor—the part responsible for pumping refrigerant through the system.
- You Hear Noises. If you hear a grinding or squealing sound when your A/C is turned on, then chances are your compressor is on its last legs.
- There’s an Oil Leak. There are certain parts of the A/C system, such as the A/C evaporator, compressor, condenser, lines and fittings, that if compromised can leak refrigerant and compressor oil.
